A Breakfast of Champions

According to David himself, this is how breakfast should be done!!  If it were up to him, he would have bacon incorporated into breakfast, lunch, and dinner!  Somehow, I don't think that would be an acceptable diet as far as health goes, but as far as taste goes, it certainly would be satisfying!  Here we see my brother's breakfast of scrambled egg whites, hash brown potatoes, and a side of bacon.  This meal was courtesy of Amity Diner on the Upper East Side in NYC.  Since David has been sick, they have become a regular phone call for delivery service as well as a regular stop-in.  At this point, the waiters know him by name.  It is always so nice to eat there and see how an old fashion diner is run - true appreciation for their customers!  Plus, the food is great and they treat my brother well! (which really is all that matters)

Happy 16th Birthday David!!

Happy Birthday to my best friend and incredible brother, David!  January 17th marked his 16th Birthday and I could not have been more proud to come home from Michigan for the weekend to spend it with him.  As a surprise, I booked a flight home on the 17th.  He had no idea that I was even considering coming home for the weekend, so you can only imagine how surprised he was to find me sitting in the apartment (well actually I jumped out at him) when he arrived home from his birthday dinner with my parents.

Of course, after we had a huge hug and he calmed down from the excitement of me being home, we planned a few birthday dinners for the weekend.  First on our list was the new restaurant The General.  All I can say is WOW!  All four of us loved our dinner there on Friday night.  They brought us tons of free dishes and desserts...all of which we devoured.

Saturday night we went to Marc Forgione, a tried and true favorite for the Asch family.  As usual, I ordered the chili lobster - one of my favorite dishes ever.  As shown in the photo, we had a wide variety of options on the table (and each one was more delicious than the next).

I am so happy that I was able to be home to celebrate such a special milestone in David's life.  Despite still being in chemotherapy treatment, he has such a positive outlook on life.  He inspires me every day to become a better person and appreciate everything that is good in my life.
